Let me start off by saying this rule is relevant to you right now, whatever shape you are in, however you feel about yourself. This rule will also be relevant to you in 2 days, 3 weeks, 4 months, or 5 years, etc. Basically, this rule will be around forever and it will stand the test of time.
This rule is not a gate-kept secret. It’s super practical for your everyday life so I’m bringing it to the light so you can make the necessary changes in your life to live leaner, stronger, and healthier.
It’s the 3rd full week of January so there’s still some New Year’s Resolutioners still joining the party and I want you to know this rule is for EVERYONE! But wait, what even is it about?
I’m glad you asked, it’s all about weight loss/fat loss! This is the number 1 goal for most people in the new year, but so many fail to achieve it. Why is that?

One of the main reasons people are not able to lose a substantial amount of fat and keep it off is because they think they are not making progress with their current diet or plan but in reality, they are.
They are making progress, but they do not realize it, so they quit.
That’s why I made the 2 Week Weight Loss Rule!
I tell every client on our weekly calls, “If you weigh every single day for 14 days and hit a new low weight at least 1 of those days – even if the other days you have slight fluctuations, or your weight stays the same – then you are making progress.”
If over the next 14 days – January 20 – February 2 – you weigh yourself every day, you are strength training, you are dialing in your nutrition, you are walking, and you see a new low weight, you can be assured you are making progress and are on track. After you’ve seen your new low, over the next fourteen days you should see the scale drop again.
I say strength training, nutrition, and walking because those three things contribute to weight/fat loss to a substantial degree.
The amount of weight you are losing depends on the type of calorie deficit you are in, but to know you are making progress you just need a new low every fourteen days.
There are a few caveats of course. If you’ve had the stomach bug and you’ve been puking your guts up then you’ll probably hit a new low the next day, but that wouldn’t count.
Under normal circumstances, no illness or anything else, if you hit that new low weight within 14 days, that’s enough to tell me you’ve been making progress.
If you don’t see the number on the scale go down in those 14 days, make some adjustments. Drop your calories further down, move a little more, strength train a little harder. Adjusting these three levers, even minorly, can create that change you are looking for.
Obviously, stay hydrated and sleep well. Those are also factors that you should be looking at if you aren’t reaching a new low and are doing the other three things consistently.
This isn’t some theory that I pulled out of thin air. I have observed this rule in practice hundreds of times. We’ve worked with close – probably over – 1,000 clients that are trying to lose weight and fat.
Many clients have told us that this rule has saved them. In the past they would have quit because they thought they were not making progress, but because of the 14-day new low rule, they were able to stay on track.
They realized that they could’ve lost weight on their own – even though Steel Strength has an amazing plan that stimulates that weight loss – had they not gotten discouraged by the scale.
You don’t NEED a coach to change your life. You can do it on your own, but that’s why good coaching is an amazing tool to have.
