We have more big news this week! One of our facility leaders, Shaden, and her husband Luke have welcomed a new member of their family into the world! Family at Steel is so important. I mean, it’s one of our core values. Shaden has been such a vital part of our family, and to see her grow hers is so special to us at Steel.
I know I just told you guys about my beautiful family growing in last week’s blog BUT let me show you!
I feel like the luckiest man in the world to have this beautiful family by my side every day! If you watch our YouTube channel, you’ve probably heard or have seen at least one of my kids in the videos now that I work from home…in Madison.
If you have seen some of my most recent videos on YouTube, you’ve probably noticed a little change in scenery from my typical office space. That’s because I am so stoked about our new location being on the brink of opening! We’ve gotten what we need in – a rack, dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, and a bar. Now, to fill our spots – till then, I am shooting my videos from the Madison gym!
I like to call these talks I have in the gym, Gym Chat. So, if you want to have a little gym chat, click the video below and/or keep reading.
I want to talk about “What is Health?”. I have experience with being lean, strong, and healthy. More importantly, I have experience with being fat, sick, and out of shape.
Let me tell you, being lean, strong, and healthy is the BEES KNEES. It’s the best thing since, I’d even say before, sliced bread!
This past weekend I was in my backyard, playing soccer with my second born against my dad and oldest son, and I got to relishing in the fact of how FUN it was.
One, it was fun because my oldest was talking smack, so I had to lay the hammer down and we won lol! Two, it was fun because I was outside playing with my kids.
If you didn’t know, one year ago I was bed stricken for 2-3 months trying to figure out what was going on, the doctors couldn’t give us any answers.
So, the fact I was playing with my kids, outside, is such a blessing! I’m 80% better right now and getting even better by the week.
I want to put a disclaimer out – I don’t mean fat, sick, and unhealthy in a derogatory way. I just mean that I was carrying around a lot of extra body fat and was just well sick. It sucked, I had to tell my kids no, I couldn’t play with them all the time. I couldn’t even show up as the husband I wanted to be. It just wasn’t possible.
But now, I get to do those things. It’s just such a joy and a blessing to be able to play with my kids, take care of my wife who is recovering from birthing our 5th child, all after a 60+ hour work week.
Being able to just work full time is a blessing in itself and it’s something we take for granted. I have learned so much during my 20s with my health. I used to think strength training and nutrition was enough, but I have found that they are staples to being lean, strong, and healthy, but there is more to it than just strength training and nutrition.
Since I started Steel, I have loved every one of my clients and have poured so much of my knowledge into helping them better themselves.
But now that I know what it feels like to have your body hold you back.
To not show up as a father, a husband, a friend, a business owner, a church member, a son.
To have your heart, mind, and soul not identify with where your body is at.
Then to be able to take that back and do the things you love with the people you love. It is a GIFT.
If you have never experienced this, that is great! I pray you never do. But, if life does hit you – even if you are doing all the right things – keep trucking.
Now, let’s get real. Most of us want to get into fitness so we like the way we look right? I mean, that’s why I started my fitness journey – I was tired of being skinny and wanted to build muscle.
Starting your fitness journey doesn’t just have to be about how you look though!
I wanted to be able to play with – and beat – my kids at soccer.
I wanted to be able to take care of everything I needed to take care of with my business so we could grow and serve more clients.
I wanted to be able to take care of my wife and things around the house.
It is an absolute joy to be lean, strong, and healthy so you can be a BLESSING to those around you.
That is why I care so much about my fitness and YOUR fitness. If you just want to get shredded for the beach, we got you. But, most of our clients just want their lives back. They want to feel good and look good. I LOVE helping them do that.
So, if you feel like there is no hope, I know how you feel. I’ve been in two different dark times with my health.
God allowed me to go through those seasons so I could speak to, help, and connect with those of you who are going through extremely hard circumstances and situations. If you are alive, there is hope.
If you want to be lean, strong, and healthy so you can do the things you love with the people you love, we would love to stick out a helping hand to you.
Come work with us at Steel and see results you may not feel are possible. Trust me, you will look back and be glad you did.
