My 5 Step Formula for Health, Business, and Relationship Success

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

DO NOT Settle for Average Health/Fitness, Business, Marriage, Relationships/Friendships, etc.

You Were Made For Great Things!

I feel I’m just getting started in my “success journey.” But I often think to myself, “I am so fortunate to be doing what I love. To have an incredible marriage, relationship with my kids, a lot of time with them, and a growing business with an amazing team and clients.”

I’ve often wondered why everyone doesn’t get to live out their dreams.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but in this blog I do want to show you what I’ve done to see some success. And Lord-willing will continue to succeed in all these areas on a much larger scale!

From this post, I want YOU to understand who you are, to dream big, and to achieve those dreams!

That’s why today we’re going to talk about My 5 Step Formula for Health, Business, and Relationship Success

The 5 Steps Are:

  1. Know Who You Are
  2. Write Out the Vision
  3. Pray About it
  4. Do Today’s Work With Excellence
  5. Rest and Repeat

Know Who You Are

Everything you have flows out of what you do. And everything you do flows from who you are. Your identity. What you believe about God, about yourself, and about the world around you.

I learned this from Myron Golden. A YouTuber and very successful entrepreneur who teaches all about business from Biblical principles.

The ideas goes like this…

We want better health, marriage, etc. So we try to do more/better. Which might work for a team. But it won’t create lasting change. Because it doesn’t get to the root of the issue.

WHO WE ARE.

When we believe things that aren’t true or helpful, our actions will be subpart. And of course so will our results.

Want better results?

Think better. Have better beliefs.

That’s why we start here.

YOU need to know that the first thing God tells us in the Bible is He is Creator. That must be an important attribute if it’s the first thing we learn about him.

Then we go on to learn that you and I, and every man and woman to walk on this planet was made in His image. Which means we are creators too.

Now we aren’t all powerful like God is. So we can’t speak things into existence.

But we CAN create stuff.

AS Myron Golden likes to say, “He created us to create stuff, and made us to make stuff. He put a little bit of His creativity in each of us.”

I always tell my kids, my team, and everyone else I can that God gave you special gifts and talents that the world desperately needs. And only you can do those things! Because YOU are unique. There’s only one of you.

I used to erroneously believe “I’m not creative.” I said that because I’m a horrible artist. I can’t draw. I can’t paint. I can’t even make a good stick figure ha!

BUT I can create a business. I’m a leader. A visionary.

I AM creative.

And so are you.

Once I acknowledged that I am in fact creative, my creativity exploded. My bad belief about not being creative was holding me back.

Fix this belief.

YOU ARE CREATIVE!

You are made in God’s image with unique gifts and talents! Use them!!

WRITE OUT THE VISION

Don’t go through life wishing for things, hoping for things, saying it would be nice if X, Y, and Z would happen.

You know these people. You might be surrounded by them. You might look at one every morning in the mirror.

I know I used to talk like this.

I realized it’s not helpful.

Instead, I say what I want. I think about what I want. And I write it out.

I create a clear picture in my mind of what I want, what I’m going for, and what it’s going to feel like when I get there.

If you passively say you want or would like something, the odds of it happening are slim.

Life is going to punch you in the face. A LOT! Totally derail you. Leave you down and out and depressed. Anything short of full intention to accomplish something almost guarantees you’ll never reach the goal.

Write your vision out, and think about it often!

PRAY ABOUT IT

I think success has both a push and pull to it. A going high and a going low component.

Here’s what I mean.

I believe I am a creator. Made in God’s image. With special gifts and talents. I have dreams and desires and goals.

I know what I want, I write it out, I say it, and I think about it often.

Then I submit those plans to God. I ask “God what do you want me to build? What do you want me to do? What do you want this to be? I am yours. And these gifts and talents you’ve given me are yours. It’s my job to steward them. Mold and shape my desires and goals and dreams. And give me wisdom about how to accomplish them. And bring me the right people, resources, circumstances, etc needed to make this happen.”

I think it’s partnership between THE Creator and me. A push and a pull.

A going for what I want, balanced with the submission of my plans to His will.

You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. You don’t have to do any of this of course!

But I’ve heard it said, “God is the master strategist.”

I’m reminded of Proverbs 16:3:

“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.”

He will orchestrate things for you perfectly. In His timing and His way.

He’s the one that gave you the desires and dreams and goals and talents in the first place.

Why not also trust Him with the plan and timing and details?

DO TODAY’S WORK WITH EXCELLENCE

We don’t get to stop at prayer. We work while we wait on God’s timing.

We work with excellence, diligence, and as a faithful steward.

In fact, being a Faithful Steward is one of our core values at Steel and in my own home.

Being a Faithful Steward means not being lazy. BUT It also means NOT hustling and grinding.

Some seasons require more work than others. But being faithful means being diligent.

Part of diligence is hard work. But it’s not just hard work. It’s working hard at the right things.

It’s being intentional. Being focused.

You can work really, really hard for decades at the wrong things and barely get by. Still have struggling health, relationships, business, etc.

Pray for wisdom, seek out a better strategy, and once you have that…work hard! Work with excellence!

It’s our job to work hard at the right things!

Then…

REST AND REPEAT

One of the ways we worship God is by trusting Him to be…well…to be God!

We do our part. You know, the work, the whole Faithful Steward thing.

Then at the end of the day we rest.

We rest physically. Let our bodies recover so we can get back at it again tomorrow!

But we also rest emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Knowing He’s the one that gave us the vision, He gave us the desires and gifts and talents, He’s called us to build our thing (whatever that thing is), He’s led us to today, and He’s going to lead us the whole way!

Do the work you have to do, then trust Him with the rest.

Then wake up tomorrow and do it all again!

And that ladies and gentlemen is my 5 Step Formula for Health, Business, and Relationship Success

You are creative.
